The Stamets Seminars
Paul Stamets, author of Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms and coauthor of The Mushroom Cultivator, standing in front of two grow rooms at our facility in Washington State

We conduct in-depth workshops on mushroom cultivation, emphasizing a hands-on approach, at our gourmet mushroom research station. Participants learn tissue culture, spawn generation techniques, substrate preparation, inoculation techniques, and strategies for maximizing yields. Each seminar participant receives seven select mushroom strains for their own personal use. (The cultures alone have a value in excess of $800.00.)
The cultivation of Shiitake, Oyster, Enokitake, King Stropharia, Reishi, Maitake and many others are covered in detail. Registration is on a first-come basis. Food and lodging are not included (continental breakfast, lunch, coffee and other beverages will be provided both days). Required textbooks: The Mushroom Cultivator and Growing Gourmet & Medicinal Mushrooms (not included).
These informationally intense courses are taught personally by Paul Stamets and the experienced staff of Fungi Perfecti. A detailed information packet will be sent upon registering. Five seminars are conducted each year. Further information will be sent upon registering. Since space is limited, early registration is strongly advised (many seminars sell out six months in advance). Registration must be reconfirmed two weeks prior to seminar. Please note: due to an overwhelming amount of last-minute cancellations during our 2009 season we have changed our seminar policy. 50% ($400.00) of the tuition for the Stamets Seminar is non-refundable. Seminar Tuition: $800.00

MycorestorationSM is the use of fungi to help repair or restore ecologically harmed habitats. Whether the habitats have been damaged from human activities or natural disasters, saprophytic and mycorrhizal fungi can help steer the course to recovery. MycorestorationSM encompasses the use of fungi for filtration of water (mycofiltration), the breakdown of toxic wastes (mycoremediation), and use of fungi for empowering ecoforestry strategies (mycoforestry). This two day intensive workshop will discuss the current practices, evaluation of strategies, and choice of the appropriate fungal candidates for MycorestorationSM.

Participants will get hands-on experience in applying mycelium and designing fungal responses to catastrophia. (Please note that some of the techniques described in this workshop are protected by Paul Stamets' pending patents.) This workshop will focus on species of fungi with proven or prospective MycorestorationSM properties.

Participants will learn how to combine skills in mycelium production with ecoforestry, permaculture, road-abatement & decommissioning and toxic waste cleanups.
Wood chips
Hardwood sawdust and wood chips, inoculated with mushroom mycelium
Discussions will be wide-ranging and customized to the interests of participants. To insure a baseline of knowledge and experience in the fields of mushroom cultivation and mycelial propagation, attendance to one of the Stamets Mushroom Cultivation Seminars is a mandatory prerequisite. Food and lodging are not included (continental breakfast, lunch, coffee and other beverages will be provided both days). As space is extremely limited, early registration is strongly advised. Registration must be reconfirmed two weeks prior to seminar. Please note: due to an overwhelming amount of last-minute cancellations during our 2009 season we have changed our seminar policy. 50% ($400.00) of the tuition for the Mycorestoration Seminar is non-refundable.
